Another 'Monster' portrait for my series. Here is Regan from 'The Exorcist'.

I enjoy working in silkscreen and finding out how much from etching. Recently I spoke to some friends about the differences in process. Etching feels more as a quiet symphony as to Silkscreen a heavy metal, punk rock method.

Continuing my 'Monster' series, I decided to do a portrait of Amy Winehouse. 'AMI' is the second portrait series to accompany 'FURANKU'.

These are fun to make. Exploring textures, character and experimentation.

Time Out NY Magazine #667

I created a comic strip for this weeks ' Photo Finish ' section in Time Out NY Magazine issue # 667.

Check out the magazine stands across NYC for the strip.

It was really fun to work on this piece. A good exercise as I am developing my personal thoughts about the form.

Icon 5; Xerox Playing Card Set

This years ICON 5 Illustration Conference will be held in New York City at the historic Roosevelt Hotel in midtown Manhattan.

This year's theme is The Big Picture. The conference promises to examine the current creative and economic forces that our industry faces today.

ICON gathers the industry's best and brightest talent to present and talk about their work, their business, their lives, and their passion for illustration.

Marshal Arisman personally asked for my contribution to the Xerox Playing card set distributed at the conference. Included in the set are selected SVA, FIT, MICA and Pratt students.

Shown here is the illustration created by Edel Rodriguez with the illustration I created for the card set. Anna Raffdesigned the border for the SVA section.

Son of Monster

I worked on the first version in a tiny print. Just fooling around but ended up liking the piece.   I remade it in a larger format to add to my portfolio. So here it is, Son of Monster.

I haven't posted these in a while. As you will see on the pages the dates they were created were about two months ago. I just have not had time to scan all of them. 'Magic Rub' sketch comic is complete. More scans and posts of the sketch comic will be made as I wait for Jenai to meet me in the city.

Page 7: A huge Godzilla looking monster stampedes his/her way onto our hero. ROARRR!!!

Page 8: Edo flees this abomination in terror. An unknown creature appears from the sink holes that are on the ground. ZAP!!! The creature is no more. Edo stands in wonder as the creature asks "Have you heard about the good news?" More creatures appear from the sink holes.

Page 9: The creatures continue to harass Edo. Edo thanks the death of the monster. The creatures swarm over Edo, chanting 'Good News'.

Page 10: Two cows meet in a field under the stars of night. "Moo" "MOo" "Moo" "MOo..." One cow dies. "Moo?"

Page 11: Hershey Rabbit..."Death Game , Murder, Rap..YEEHA!!!"

Page 12: Edo awakes in his apartment. News of the destruction of Hero city is heard.

Page 13: Edo pees on himself.

Page 14: Joey news anchor interviews Superdude, the last survivor of Hero city. Superdude resigns.

Sketchbook Entry # 3

I am in the process of a spiritual search. Allowing myself just to draw and fill up a sketch book page. These possibly may be studies for paintings. I did not realize that I was doing this process about ten years ago. I have a huge painting my parents had in storage I forgot about now displayed in their living room. Weird.

Iron Man

Yes I suffer from mass media waves that bombard my brain to wither in acidic feelings of cancerous melodies. Iron Man will turn tin toon to Iron Men.

Steroids Are Bad!

I drew this picture after reading Jack Kirby's Fourth World Omnibus book 1. Amazing book so far, it may not look like it but I am becoming EXTREMELY influenced by his work. Going J.K. crazy!.

Oh and Steroids are bad.

Song Mix # 2

Here is a mix I created from audio built into the Garage Band software.  I used this for my A Perfect Empire web-site when building the Ka-Blam-O compilation book. It never saw the light of day.

Song # 1

Here is a song I wrote last summer 2007. This is just a quick sketch. I believe that this was the first take. I wrote it as I played it/recording at the same time, improv along the way. I added a drum beat later after cleaning up the hum. I titled this 'Enough is Enough' out of what? I do not know. CLICK HERE

I may actually finish the song with lyrics over this summer 2008.

Sketches

On-location sketches created in Carol Fabricatore's masters class. The first drawing at Gustav Courbet exhibit. The second a juxtaposed image of Coney Island between the 'Wonder Wheel' and the 'Aquarium'.

African Burial Ground Preview

Recently I was directed to develop an on location drawing project of my choice. African American history has been an interest of mine since a young boy. I decided to choose the African Burial Ground in NYC for my studies. It was a highly emotional project. I am very proud of this book, which will be donated to the site for possible display.
